G’day all and welcome to another edition of the Telegraph Line. It’s been a while between editions and there has been a lot going on, trying to get back into production following a poor production run at the end of 2020 which did not meet Expedition 134 standards. As a result, we moved our tools to a new moulding facility on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and actually identified damage requiring major repair in the process.
In late February things took an unexpected turn when Ben decided he wished to sell out of the company and asked if Kari and I wished to buy his share out. It was a big decision given the lack of production and product for an extensive period, unknown extent of damage to the main tub tool, and Kari and I expecting an addition to the family. However, Kari and I were keen to pursue the business despite the hurdles that were thrown down.
So a new chapter at Expedition 134 commences in 2021 with Kari and myself continuing on the business which Ben and I founded back in 2017.
We did not sit idle while our tools were being repaired and production was halted. We took advantage of this time to test new materials and are now using a higher-grade polypropylene, which means the boxes are now food safe. We’ve also improved the boxes’ impact resistance and UV stabilisation and tweaked the hinges to improve functionality.
With the higher-grade material comes modernised colours. We have for some time been looking at our branding and soon you will see everything coming under Expedition 134 with a new accompanying logo. Expedition 134 has been our box brand name from the beginning. Open Sky Touring will fall into the shadows and a new website under Expedition 134 will soon be launched. Keep an eye out for that launch with the new-and-improved logo. Kari and I reckon it will make the navigation experience far more efficient and enjoyable.
To celebrate the return of the Expedition134 and its new improvements, we’re running a pre-production sale from now until the 25th of May**.
For a limited time only, you can purchase an Expedition134 heavy duty storage box for $159.00 before they’re released for the RRP of $179.00. Save $20 and secure one of these latest Expedition134 storage boxes before they sell out. Expected delivery time is around early June***.
Until then the old Open Sky Touring website remains open for business. Don’t worry, we’ve also retained all the core features of the storage boxes that have made them tough, durable and perfect for all your adventures on land or sea.
Kari and I are also very excited to announce a new addition to our family among all this mayhem. Angus Bruce McKenzie was born in late April. Kari and Angus are both healthy and happy, which is all we can ask for.
Finally, Kari and I would like to thank all supporters of Expedition 134, both clients and various industry members throughout this difficult period. We value your contributions, big and small, and we look forward to continuing to work hard with and for you long into the future.
